I have written a vba script that is executed at the excel work book level for excel 2007/2010. The requirement of this project is to generate separate excel workbooks when there is a break in the data at the company level and/or at the sub company level. The following are the two problems I am encountering:
1. A few of the company and sub company names contain invalid characters according to excel documentation. The users do not want me to replace their 'real name' with some other character that is acceptable to excel. Thus what is occuring is excel tabs that have illegal characters will say 'error1', 'error2', and so on. Thus is there any to keep excel from calling these tabs 'error 1', 'error 2, and so on? If this is possible, can you tell me and/or point me to a url that will explain how to solve my problem.
2. The tab names can only be a certain length. Is there any way to make the tab names length increase?
